Describe your typical day… Is there ever a typical day? As a photographer I find myself in all sorts of weird and wonderful places, shooting a variety of subjects, which is what makes my job so enjoyable. I may be on a shoot, preparing for a shoot, at my computer working on post production, meeting people, or performing the multitude of admin tasks that don’t do themselves. In between all of this I try to find time for the important people in my life (and occasionally some time for me!)

When was the last time you felt inspired? I find myself inspired by so many things, a beautiful scene, a conversation with a dear friend, favourite music, but the most recent inspirational moment that springs to mind was a segment on Art Nation on ABC of the amazing Maggie Diaz. Born in 1925 in America and immigrating to Australia in 1961 she became one of the leading commercial photographers in Melbourne. Maggie has spent over forty years documenting Melbourne’s many varied communities and despite failing eyesight and the loss of her left eye continues to shoot on a daily basis. Truly inspirational!

What’s next on your Bucket List and why? The very next? – it’s a big list! Open the dream studio.

Tell us something about you that may surprise people? I’m quite addicted to historical fiction. I know the authors take quite a few liberties with the facts, but pure escapism is worth overlooking this.

What’s your top tip for success? Have faith in yourself. Work hard but look after what’s important to you outside of ‘the job’. Arm yourself with knowledge. Have respect for your clients and yourself, be ethical and enjoy!
