Introducing Emily our Premium member of the week and Director and Founder of Avanti Italy and Avanti Marketing and Consulting

Name: Emily Tassone

State: Victoria

Job title: Director/Founder

Company: Avanti Italy & Avanti Marketing and Consulting

Describe your business: I run Avanti Marketing and Consulting as well as Avanti Italy, which specialises in tailored itineraries for those travelling to the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany.

Describe your typical day: My daily routine differs depending on whether I am in Australia or Italy. Since I am currently in Australia I get up early (normally between 5.30am – 6.30am) and exercise it’s always outside so I can get some fresh air and think before my day starts and with my girlfriends so I can socialise at the same time.  Then as soon as I return home, it’s go go go. My day can vary from working onsite at a marketing client’s office, to working from my home office, to meeting with Avanti Italy clients at my favourite café to discuss their dream Italian escape over a coffee. Normally my days are filled with lots of breakfast, coffee and lunch meetings with a good mix of both Avanti Italy and Avanti Marketing clients, suppliers and networking.  Then after 5.30pm I am always in my home office responding to emails, completing itineraries, making Skype calls to suppliers in Italy and completing marketing work for clients until about 11pm/midnight.  If I have a dinner or social function on one night I will take a few hours off but even if I get home at 10pm, I'm straight back on the computer until about midnight.  I definitely don’t watch any TV, but do make time for family and friends events and catch ups.  But at the moment I am still growing my business so my working days are very long, something I plan to change in 2013.

When was the last time you felt inspired? When a friend of mine successfully organised the local Relay for Life event in Mildura.  She did such an amazing job co-ordinating thousands of people - she represented herself and the cause so well in the media.  She has devoted many volunteer hours over the years to such a worthy cause and even won an Australia Day award locally for her efforts earlier this year.  I love people that give back to the community.

What’s next on your Bucket List and why? My focus is definitely to grow Avanti Italy which I am currently doing.  So next on the bucket list is to write and publish a book on my life on the Amalfi Coast – my story with a focus on the local people, the food, and my wonderful suppliers.  This is just something I have always wanted to do and I think a lot of people would get enjoyment out of reading about it.

Tell us something about you that may surprise people? I have sponsored children through World Vision since I was 13 years of age.  I believe if you're fortunate enough to be born at the right place at the right time then you should be giving back to the world.

What’s your top tip for success? Don’t wait for others to believe in you or seek approval from them– because at the end of the day if YOU believe you can, you will achieve all you set out to do.  Commit and throw yourself 110% into something you love. But most importantly always surround yourself with positive, likeminded people that you can bounce ideas off and inspire you.
