Describe your typical day… Working with Vida Sparkling Vitamin Water is so exciting. Each day brings new adventures and opportunities. No day is ever the same. Roles and responsibilities are varied and challenging in this market. Each day is consumed with a number of tasks and as a director I enjoy involvement in all aspects of the business such as design, promotion, product development, finance and, of course, networking.

I generally start early and if I can get my morning exercise in before I start at the office, each day is much more productive. Once at the office I am focused on the task at hand and motivated to get to the next one as soon as possible. In between phones calls, meetings and quite a number of events of late I do try and balance being a mother and role model to two very beautiful children. My evenings are cherished catching up with them both and sharing our day’s events with each other.

I also own a finance company with 5 staff and my husband owns and operates a Canberra based building company so our lives are aligned with what we call “the relay race”. Often we are just passing the baton and taking turns to sprint to the next destination.

I must admit with my days being as jammed packed as possible I do outsource a few of the typical day’s duties and without the support of my loving family I believe doing what I do each day would be close to impossible.

When was the last time you felt inspired? My two business partners in Vida Sparkling Vitamin Water approached me late last year to join them on their journey to bring Australian consumers a healthier alternative soft drink to the commercial fridge. The inspiration they bring to the business each and every day is amazing. As a team the passion and drive to achieve this in today’s economic market is what wakes me up every day being grateful for the life I live. I am proud to be part of the revolution in this industry. Obviously with the current media scrutiny of both energy drinks and the high sugar content of soft drinks in the market place, having quite serious health implications on our kids and consumers we believe now is the right place and time to change for the better what our future generations are consuming.

What’s next on your 'Bucket List' and why? To create a school based education program for our children and teenagers teaching them the facts of healthy choices leading to healthier lives. As a mother with two young children being influenced by very large companies with an endless stream of revenue for marketing, the messages are not always giving them the chance for the right choices. The health of our younger generation is now suffering. I wish to create a fun and interactive program that has some serious health messages but done in a way that our children can relate to. Education is the key to change in the ever growing health issues such as obesity, diabetes and depression just to name a few.

Tell us something about you that may surprise people? Since 2010 I have been battling a rare immune disease which has been a constant reminder that each and every day is a gift. Whilst having treatment and so far winning the battle, I have been able to use this as a launching pad to grow as an individual and achieve the most out of myself in both my personal and professional life.

What’s your top tip for success? There is a saying: Tough times never last, but tough people do. Every day we have challenges and if you look for the lessons to be learnt and new directions to take, we never know how strong we really are until being strong is the only choice we have.

What would you like to get from your Business Chicks experience? Business Chicks is a great networking environment to align myself with other like-minded women to share and learn from those who are already succeeding in business. I look forward to this year’s events and the outstanding guest speakers to educate and inspire for the future. It is a fantastic avenue for any woman who is striving for greatness and connecting with others to share the journey we are all on.
