Describe your typical day… My morning coffee is a must for a great kick-start to my day. No day is ever the same! I have a 3-year-old son called Taj and most mornings he starts our day well and truly before my morning coffee! I live a simple and semi-organized life that’s consistently balancing between work, rest and play. Most days I would be in my studio processing and editing my client images, working with my assistants, at a shoot either on location or in my new studio. A major plus of my job is that I’m always meeting with new and existing clients, something I really enjoy. What’s great about my typical day is that there’s always new people to meet, places to work and my gig is my true love and passion!
When was the last time you felt inspired? I’m never far from being inspired daily by the people in my life and my surroundings. My clients always inspire me when they share their lives with me - I gain great insight and friendships from my 'Brides to Be' and form strong bonds with various Entrepreneurs and Women in Business whom I photograph on a regular basis.
I’m blessed that I surround myself with genuine women and most of them have lived life with zest and have no regrets. Recently I photographed a businesswoman who rocked my core and inspired me greatly about the quality of life. I’m truly blessed to have had the good fortune to meet and photograph such special women. This client in particular was inspirational as she had been in an extremely bad car accident and died a number of times in the operating theatre. She shared her life with me during our shoot and I must say, I will be ever so grateful to have been graced by her presence in my studio - she was just a delightfully inspiring woman I am in awe of. I recently met with Anne McKevitt, who is also a great inspiration to me on many levels.
What’s next on your Bucket List and why? Probably some well deserved time out for reading, yoga, adding another vintage film camera to my collection and simply chilling out with my family riding our bikes.
Tell us something about you that may surprise people? As a kid I used to go door-to-door selling art craft items I had made, hence I learnt many lessons about business at the age of 10. I‘ve studied marketing and I’m a professional photographer, who’s also a make-up artist…but I truly get 110% satisfaction by making, The Ordinary Extraordinary via my photography.
I’m deeply in-tune with business and photography trends; I know my marketing background has provided me with a solid profitable business with an edge in the marketplace, and in doing so, it has provided me with the grounding to be a successful business women. I was an actor in the movie 'The Bangkok Hilton' opposite Nicole Kidman which was a lot of fun.
What’s your top tip for success? Always be open to new challenges and make fear your friend; I’ve watched my business grow on this belief. I have some brilliant mentors who are successful women in their own businesses; their hard earned lessons have provided me with the greatest insights that I find invaluable everyday and I’m genuinely grateful for all the deep friendship and relationships I’ve formed from my business and simply by just backing oneself for success is key.
I believe in being the 'Conductor' of your business. This has allowed me to make time for writing my photography books, producing exciting new photography products for women and speaking about 'digital branding for entrepreneurs'.
What would you like to get from your Business Chicks experience? Developing solid connections, learning and sharing wisdom from all the other incredibly talented women, this will reflect positively within me as person and in my business.
