Name: Kacey Bennett
State: VIC
Job title: Director
Company: Kula Corporate Yoga
Describe your typical day… I’ve officially launched my new company, Kula Corporate Yoga, so every day is currently non-typical, diverse and exciting! I am loving the business development process. I am thriving on setting up new clients with beneficial yoga programs for their staff, developing the Kula brand and marketing activities, expanding my amazing network of inspirational teachers and matching them to my clients. I am an active instructor in the business, happily teaching programs along with my fellow Kula Crew members. I am so lucky to be sharing the benefits and joys of yoga with the business world. I get a kick out of teaching people how to lower their stress levels, calm their central nervous system and reduce tension and pain without leaving the office. Did you know that backbends are nature’s way of giving you a caffeine free energy boost? I’m out sharing my knowledge, positivity and balance with the Melbourne working world.
When was the last time you felt inspired? I’m constantly surrounded by inspiration – I practice yoga, I teach yoga, my business is yoga – it’s fabulous. This week, my favourite piece of inspiration came from one of my students. She thanked me for making her aware of the way she breathed. By doing this she has tapped into the amazing effect the breath can have on her mood, stress levels and the physical tension her body holds onto. She’s taken one small message during her yoga session and applied it to life off of the yoga mat.
What’s next on your Bucket List and why? I am going to establish Kula Corporate Yoga as the number one corporate yoga business in Victoria. I’ve spent the majority of my working life in challenging marketing roles. With my background in the business world I completely understand what my students are feeling and what they crave from their yoga sessions. I understand tight deadlines, huge to do lists and long hours at the office and the effect it can have on your body and mind. I want to help employees in the business world to reduce stress, tension and pain. I want to teach them to increase energy, and find balance and clarity.
Tell us something about you that may surprise people? I’ve travelled to 43 countries around this amazing world of ours! My second home was Whistler, Canada where I completed my yoga teacher training. Since returning to Melbourne I’ve slowly made my way out of corporate roles and established Kula Yoga.
What’s your top tip for success? ‘Choose a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life’. The old saying rings true. Choose a career, a job or a company that you are passionate about. Surround yourself with positive people that make you smile. Love what you do, find work-life balance and remember your health goals.
What would you like to get from your Business Chicks experience? I would love to connect with any Business Chicks that would benefit from a corporate yoga program at their workplace. I would also love to learn and be inspired by other women building their own business. I look forward to meeting and connecting with the Business Chicks kula (=community).
