What is the most important lesson you’ve learnt during your career? Be yourself at all times. Don’t be discouraged if people get frustrated and can’t put you into a ‘box’ because you have a variety of skills or experience – but make sure you are very clear about who you are and what you stand for.

Self-belief and accountability are key - it takes dedication and conviction to be steadfast in the face of adversity. We all make mistakes but taking responsibility, not repeating them and growing from this makes them valuable stepping stones.

If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be and why? Richard Branson and my grandparents - I missed out on getting to know my grandparents and I think spending time with them would be amazing and meaningful. Richard Branson because of his business acumen, ‘dare to dream’ approach and take no prisoner’s conviction about what he does.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to someone starting out in your industry/aspiring to your job, what would it be? My motto is ‘create the life you want’.  Figure out what that means for you and be clear about those key elements. Combining what you are passionate about and what you are good at is a recipe for success. Always be sincere and put integrity at the top of your list.

  • Teamwork is essential. Knowing your strengths and identifying your weaknesses enables you to see where you might need help and what experts can contribute.
  • Never be afraid to ask for help – even if everyone already thinks you are wonder woman. Just chose those you go to wisely and be appreciative of their time and effort along the way.

Overall we need to lead by example and show a healthy balance of intelligence and femininity is great – that you need to be able to think both with heart and mind and listen to your intuition.

How do you define success? Being great at what you do and being a great person above all else.

The definition of success often changes with where you are at in life or business.  In a global sense I think it is knowing you are doing something sincerely, with passion and integrity – regardless of financial reward or external accolade. For me at the moment, success is seeing my ideas and goals become a reality. About creating and having valued relationships. I feel blessed to be working with and enjoying the company of some incredible individuals in both a business and personal sense. Success going forward for me will see Life’s a Gym as a household name, a trusted source, a platform for fitness professionals who share the same passion to enjoy a tried and tested five star framework for business, for clients that have sustained a healthy happy lifestyle and for our partners to enjoy delivering our promise of five star service across all our products. Capturing the energy and enthusiasm I have and being able to share this with those I meet, present to or work with in all areas of life.

What motivates you? All of the above – feeling fit, overcoming challenges and wanting to share how easy it can be with those that are interested and want to take their life to the next level.  Leading by example.

Creating a valued ’stable’ of trusted sources in the forms of fitness professionals and experts.

I’m currently searching for individuals that can be guest trainers for the five* Bodibreaks and for our Corporate Vitality programs with the qualities I feel are truly important to make a difference and a sincere impact for our clients. It motivates me to find the best in the business to offer our clients.

In addition to this continue our work with non-profit organisations on a local and bigger awareness level. Grow my contribution to the community and these organisations.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far: I’m very proud of the ability to use my experience in both branding and health/wellness to break down barriers, create effective solutions on a personalised basis for clients and show people how easy it can be to achieve goals with clarity, honesty and a dream team.

Lately it would have to be going live with Virgin Australia Blue Holidays and our Bodibreaks for Noosa, Fiji and Bali.

Plus creating room in life to give back to the community or a charitable cause that resonates. Being charitable is not all about donating money – it can be about providing unique experiences for those under privileged, time for people that are never listened to, or joining forces with partners to bring products and services in to add value to those with challenging lives.

Being able to show support and build awareness for charities such as CanTeen, Aim for the Stars and ocean research projects through my connections, day- to -day work and passion for what I do  - even on a small scale is great.

We continue to encourage those working with us to provide time and connections to a cause they feel passionate about – and to start close to home in their own community or area.

Thanks so much for sharing Nikki's story! Nikki joined the Women in Focus team last week for a turbo inspiration and motivation session - it was fantastic. We've already made changes - we are trying the WakeUp WorkOut and the individual tasks she set us. Thanks, AnaReply
