Special Guest Speaker - Rachel Ward

If you've ever wondered what it takes to be an actress, mother, journalist, model, youth worker, fundraiser, scriptwriter, director - you'll love Rachel Ward's story.

Rachel will share her journey in the limelight as one of Australia's most promising new directors. She has starred in numerous films and television series including 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid' with Steve Martin and 'Against All Odds'. It was on the set of the set of the mini-series 'The Thorn Birds' where she met her husband of 25 years Bryan Brown. Rachel has been the recipient of several international drama awards and nominations including a Golden Globe nomination in 2001 for the mini-series 'On the Beach'.

In 2000 Rachel decided to redirect her wealth of experience and knowledge of the art of film making into writing and directing. To date her two short films 'Blindman's Bluff' and 'The Big House' have won awards at Film Festivals around the world.

In addition to her acting and directing triumphs, Rachel counts her involvement with the YWCA as its Patron as one of her finest. The YWCA is one of the world's largest non'government NGOs, run by women in 132 countries.
